Default weekend events

I know all the personnel have been shifted to GW2, but would it be that much for someone to take five minutes to update the weekend event announcement each week? It's hilarious to me that wiki has to post someone's deduction based on seeing double rewards for something.

I dont understand that either... the events themselves are automated, so why cant they do that with the server messages?

It's the ArenaNet Studios that are heavily focused on Guild Wars 2, and not on Guild Wars. The staff that issue bans and game support are at the NCsoft Support offices, so they still monitor the game and issue bans, because it's a different staff.

That would be wierd aren't we following the order of the 2011 weekend events or has it all become random?

Didn't we get double vq bonuses last weekend?

No matter, disappointing that they can't even spend <5 minutes of manpower on updating the login announcement each week.

This is causing confusion among the player base and leads even more of their customers to think that they have almost totally abandoned GW1.

Ah....the all-too-common excuse. So they can't even spare a minute or two per week to update the login message for GW1? That shows the "amazing" level of GW1 support that we are so used to having by now.

Yeah, last weekend was double vanquishing bonus, the weekend before that was also double imperial faction in AB (if it wasn't the week before last it was definitely the one before). Either way its far too early to be having an AB event again.

Wiki says its GvG weekend, has there been any confirmation on this? Anywhere else experiencing double rewards?

if they couldnt update the log in ....just updating the wiki would be good--heck even a twit or blog about it that someone could pass on...geesh, how exactly difficult is it to COMMUNICATE with your player base?

Yes, we did. We were following last year's schedule pretty closely except for the weekend before last, which was AB Bonus (instead of Double Title Points). I had assumed it was wedged in to promote the changes.

I didn't really mind the lack of messages if they were following the same schedule (you can always just check wiki), but if they're now screwing up the schedule and not announcing what the heck it is, that's not cool.

Yes it seems to have departed from the 2011 schedule but it is anybody's guess if this departure is temporary or permanent.

Currently we had:

AB Bonus weekends - 18 May
Double Gold, Scrolls and XP for Vanquishing weekends - 25 May
AB Bonus weekends again - 1 June
.
.

This is no where similar to the 2011 schedule.

Add: login announcements on weekend events may or may not be accurate because we can't be bothered to spend less than 5 mins/week to update it.

For ArenaNet, we may as well be in a galaxy far, far away... with no FTL comms. Seriously, they really, really suck at communicating with their community, it's horrendous how bad they are. They're good at a lot of things, but communication isn't one of them.

Like any business, there seem to be employees that work their tails off while others let them. Perhaps we should post this concern on Twitter or Facebook since that's where some people in the community relations section seem to spend an inordinate amount of time.

yeah, I can just hear the excuses now after gw2 launches: oh we dont have time to do xyz with gw1, there are just sooo many bugs to fix in gw2, or we wont be bringing back the live team since gw2 still needs sooo much work ....

just 5 minutes on thrusday morning--put up a one liner about what the weekend event is, do it 1st thing ....couldnt POSSSIBLE be that hard to do! (and I thought community managers were for BOTH games, ----)

Right now, they couldn't even find a minute to update the welcome screen of the GW2 Beta Client before earlier today. And by doing that, they seem to have screwed the client up...

So, consider yourself lucky, at least the GW1 client works.

Because GW2 has NOT been released yet it is expected to still be buggy. Otherwise, it would have been released already instead of denying themselves that revenue.

GW1, however, was released 7 years ago so of course, people expect most of the major bugs to have been fixed by now.

Unfortunately, we are seeing communication failures on GW1 weekend events between ANet and its customers even before GW2 is released. After GW2 is released, things would be even more hectic in ANet and GW1 would probably be dumped by the wayside.

We know from what they have said before about the announcements/weekend events, that it's on an automated run timed to the events themselves. We also know from experience a few years ago that when they have tried to adjust the automated messages it screws it all up. So yes it would be nice to have the proper announcement up and running but i guess that it is due to them altering it all for the b'day that it messed the code completely, and at the present time i doubt they have anyone that can spend the time to trawl through the code to find and fix the screwup. It's not that they have abandoned us they just have other priorities right now, it's a shame but it's not like we haven't had this before and we managed to cope last time.
